Application Procedures
Criteria
If you have a bachelor's degree, indicators of academic excellence, a lively intellectual curiosity and a willingness to work hard, you are invited to apply to the Learning Sciences program. Success in a graduate program requires such characteristics as the ability to identify and conceptualize significant research problems, the ability to be insightful and express ideas clearly and an overall potential and desire to contribute new knowledge to the discipline and the field.
There is no single criterion that determines whether a positive or negative admission decision is made. We examine your application package to assess your potential for excellence in conducting research in the Learning Sciences curriculum. Our program is both challenging and academically rigorous; as a result admission is selective.
Application Procedures
The Learning Sciences program at Indiana University is currently accepting applications for Fall 2008. To be considered for all possible scholarships and other means of support, you should have your application materials completed prior to January 15, 2008. However, we will review all applications as they are completed until one month prior to the start of the semester if there are openings in the program. The program is housed within the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology; when applying you should follow the procedures for the doctoral program and use the
Educational Psychology application. However, be sure to note that you are requesting application to the Learning Sciences Program in your personal statement and the faculty member with whom you are interested in working.
Students may apply to only one graduate degree program. Applications will be processed when all required documents have been received (application form, transcripts, letters of recommendation and GRE scores).
