How to Apply

Application Steps:

There are four steps to the application

  • First Step:  Email epde@indiana.edu to express your interest and to create your profile in the EPDE system. Indicate clearly whether you are interested in the teaching certificate or teacher trainer certificate.

Once you have created your account in the Apply Yourself section,complete the "Educational Objectives" section of the application:

             In the "Academic Program" row, choose "Education Non Degree Programs"

             In the "Major" row, choose "ESL EFL DE program EPDE"

  • Third Step: Obtain the following documents:

a.    An official bachelor’s degree transcript (sealed in an envelope, a GPA of B average).

b.    A transcript of three or more graduate courses taken from an institution of higher learning. (This document is not necessary if the applicant has not taken graduate level courses). 

c.    TOEFL score of 550 or higher for the written version, 213 or higher for the computer-based version, or 79 or higher for the Internet-based version (International Students only)

d.     An updated resume emailed to the Office of Admissions (etilghma@indiana.edu). 

  • Fourth Step: Submit the documents in the Third Step to one of the applicable addresses below:

Application Review

Applications will not be reviewed until you have officially submitted the application form, paid the application fee, and sent the supporting paper documents.


Application Deadlines

There is no application deadline for the EPDE certificate programs. You can apply to our program any time during the year. All certificate programs begin with the start of each academic semester. (Indiana University's Academic Calendar)
