Welcome
Programs in History of Education, Philosophy of Education, and International and Comparative Education bring the humanities and social sciences to bear on the study of the meaning, contexts, practices, and consequences of education. The forms of education studied in these programs range from the informal and cultural to the formal and institutional, for both children and adults. The purpose of such studies is to enhance understanding of educational phenomena and to improve their appropriateness and effectiveness in varied contexts.
