EFL/ESL Teacher Trainer Certificate
The EFL/ESL Teacher Trainer Certificate focuses on the preparation of teacher trainers. EPDE's Teacher Trainer Certificate is unique in that it highlights critical topics such as mentoring, supervision and literacy coaching. This certificate program will begin Fall of 2010.
The EFL/ESL teacher trainer certificate is a certificate issued internally by the Department of Literacy, Culture and Language Education. The certificate acknowledges the successful completion of four courses.
Required Courses
1. L530 Mentorship and Literacy Coaching of EFL/ESL Teachers (3 credits)
This course focuses on mentoring language teachers through scaffolded learning and reflection, action research and sheltered instruction (SIOP). This course is in development.
2. L530 Language Policy and Planning (3 credits)
This course is being made online accessible. It is offered on-campus.
3. L536 Materials Development for EFL/ESL Teacher Trainers (3 credits)
This course is being made online accessible. It is offered on-campus.
4. L525 Practicum in Language Education (3 credits)
Although content will vary with each instructor, the capstone project generally includes teaching video clips, teaching reflections, standards-based course syllabi, and/or a collection of materials from completed coursework that demonstrate a framework reflective of EFL/ESL pedagogy.
