Doctoral Degrees

Doctoral students majoring in Science Education may earn either a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree or a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree. The Ph.D. is considered a research-oriented degree, whereas the Ed.D. degree is oriented more to the training of practitioners. Our faculty have a wide array of research interests. We are also very supportive of research projects generated by our students. The Bloomington area provides a range of school settings in which to study student learning. We have also established strong partnerships with teachers and with our colleagues in the science departments.

This guide to doctoral studies in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction is designed to provide an overview of information about departmental offerings and requirements.

Application for both Ph.D. and Ed.D. degree programs can be made by clicking here.
