Misfer Al-Salouli (Graduated Summer 2005)

My name is Misfer Al-Salouli and I am from Saudi Arabia. Immediately after obtaining my bachelor's degree in the spring of 1994 specialized in mathematics, I taught mathematics in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades for two years. Afterwards, I taught mathematics in eighth, ninth, and tenth grades in middle and high school for two years. In 1997, I moved to Alhasa Teachers' College to work in the Curriculum & Instruction Department. While I was there, I taught mathematics courses including Math Lab and Introduction to Algebra. Then, I came to the United States to pursue my graduate studies. In the fall of 1999-2000, I started to take classes towards a master's degree in mathematics education. While working on the Ph.D. dissertation in mathematics education, I was teaching "Mathematics for Elementary Teachers via Problem Solving.

Currently, I am working as an assistant professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department at Alhasa Teachers College, Saudi Arabia. My area of interest is working with teachers and trying to help improve their beliefs and attitudes toward teaching mathematics through problem solving.
