How to Get Involved

How to Nominate or Become an Armstrong Teacher Educator

In order to become an Armstrong Teacher Educator, you must be nominated by the superintendent in your school district. Each year, information about this award is sent to principals and superintendents in every school and school district in Indiana. Superintendents may choose to nominate one or more exemplary teachers, or a principal may suggest to the superintendent that one or more teachers from his or her school be nominated.The nomination materials must include the following:

  • A letter of recommendation from the teacher's superintendent
  • A letter of recommendation from the teacher's building principal
  • A letter of recommendation from a teaching colleague
  • A current resume of the nominee
  • A one- or two-page narrative, prepared by the nominee, describing:
    • How the nominee's experience in the classroom has shaped his/her teaching philosophy
    • What personal passion the nominee brings to his/her teaching
    • What innovative and creative teaching pursuits the nominee has undertaken
Preparing a Better Application
  • Every teacher deserves praise, but please be specific and list examples
  • Please let us know unique things about you and your teaching or about the teacher you are writing about
  • If you have acronyms that are unique to your background or school, please spell them out for us and explain them
  • When appropriate, please provide us with copies of additional resources or links to work of which you're particularly proud

Information about the 2008-2009 Armstrong Teacher Educator Award will be mailed in November of 2007.The nomination materials must be postmarked by January 15, 2008. Applications may also be e-mailed in to the Armstrong Account.
