Transition to Teaching Program
Title image
  • Information about the Teacher Education Framework
  • Elementary Transition to Teaching (ET-to-T) - The design of the ET-to-T program is based on the existing and proven successful Elementary Certification Graduate Program (ECGP) at Indiana University, Bloomington; the ET-to-T licensure program was initiated in August 2003. Because of the extensive field experience requirements, the program is a full-time program which spans three-semesters (fall, spring and fall); coursework is scheduled to ensure that the extensive field experiences can be scheduled during the day when elementary students attend school. The program meets the state mandated 24-credit hour licensure program requirement and includes 6 credit hours of reading courses. Additional fees are charged for fieldwork and related seminars.
  • Secondary Transition to Teaching (ST-to-T) - The ST-to-T certification program was initiated in July 2003. Because of the extensive field experience scheduled during the school day, the program is considered full-time. In order to ensure that program completers meet all standards required of beginning teachers, the program includes an initial summer session (June - August) and two academic semesters. The program meets the state mandated 18-credit hour licensure program requirement. Additional fees are charged for field experience, student teaching, and related seminars.
