Student Assistance Program
Program Description
The Student Assistance Program is co-sponsored by Batchelor Middle School and Indiana University Center for Human Growth and is designed to assist students in developing the skills to succeed in school and in life.
This program features individual, group, and family interventions conducted by master's and doctoral level counselors in training supervised by a licensed psychologist, in affiliation with the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology in the School of Education at Indiana University.
The program staff provides confidential, professional services at Batchelor Middle School and at the Center for Human Growth.
Any Batchelor Middle School student referred by a school counselor in conjunction with parental consent can participate in the program.
Individual Counseling
Adolescence is a difficult time when students face a number of developmental and social challenges. For some students these are particularly troubling and may interfere with their ability to succeed in school. This component offers individual attention to those students who need additional assistance. Individual counseling sessions will be held at Batchelor Middle School on a weekly basis during school hours.
Family Counseling
Parental involvement is a vital factor in ensuring a student's success in school. A more intensive family-based intervention service, available in the evenings at both Batchelor Middle School and the Center for Human Growth, can integrate the family into the student's growth process and strengthen the family unit.
