The following graduate counseling programs are offered in the Counseling and Educational Psychology Department.

Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology

The Ph.D. program in counseling psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association *. Graduates of this program are prepared to work as psychologists and administrators in mental health centers, in college counseling centers, and in business and industry; as college faculty members; as private practitioners; and in other positions where counseling psychology competencies are needed. Doctoral Minor

Doctoral majors in other disciplines may minor in counseling. Students who minor in counseling must complete 12 credit hours of counseling coursework and take a qualifying examination.

Ed.S. Program in Mental Health Counseling

Students in the specialist program in Counseling and Counselor Education are prepared to become licensed mental health counselors in the State of Indiana. The Ed.S. program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Graduates of this program may also become counselors and directors of school services personnel in elementary and secondary schools (if they obtain the necessary license) or may become counselors in community agencies, educational and non-educational institutions, or business and industry. This program is appropriate for persons working in organizational roles that require competencies beyond those developed through the master's degree.

Master's Program

The master's program is available at Bloomington and at Indianapolis. Students may choose either a school track, leading to a standard school counselor license in the State of Indiana, or a community track (Bloomington only). The M.S. program in counseling is accredited by Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
