Call for Proposals: Summer Support for C & I Doctoral Students
Call for Proposals: Summer Support for C & I Doctoral Students Pursuing Pre-Dissertation or Extra-Dissertation Research or Creative Activity Deadline: February 18, 2011. Please submit by email attachment to: Lara Lackey llackey@indiana.edu or Mary McMullen mmcmulle@indiana.edu The Department of Curriculum and Instruction invites current doctoral students to submit proposals for research or creative activity to be pursued in summer 2011. Approximately 4 stipends in the amount of $1200.00 each will be awarded.
Science Education Student Research Symposium
Call for Proposals: The annual graduate student research seminar will be taking place on March 25th. Deadline: February 10, 5:00 PM. To submit a proposal to be considered for this session, please send a 250 word abstract (max) to sciedu@indiana.edu by February 10th by 5:00 PM. Any questions can be directed to amaltese@indiana.edu .
Dr Laura Stachowski's Cultural Immersion Projects Program wins 2011 Innovation Award
The University Design Consortium, an organization founded to challenge public universities around the world to develop innovative strategies to address complex 21st century issues, has recognized Indiana University’s School of Education for its Cultural Immersion Projects, which place student teachers in 15 countries, the Navajo Nation and Chicago Public Schools.
The CIRCAS is Coming
Save the date and plan to participate in the Curriculum and Instruction Research And Creative Activity Symposium (CIRCAS). When: Friday February 25, 2011, 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Where: School of Education Auditorium (Room 1120), Indiana University School of Education. Faculty and graduate students are invited to join in an afternoon devoted to sharing research, teaching and service-related projects in which members of the C & I community are currently involved.

Orientation Sessions - There are several orientation sessions before the start of the semester, including an International Student Orientation, School of Education Graduate Student Orientation, and Associate Instructor Orientation. Please plan attending those that are relevant. You may also have your program area orientation that is not listed.
Congratulations to the Neatrour-Mcglasson Fellowship Recipients 2011/12
Curriculum and Instruction would like to congratulate the following graduate students, Angela Lubbers, Nicole Duncan, and Lauren Rapacki. They have been selected to receive the Neatrour-Mcglasson Fellowship for the 2011/12 academic year. Each Fellowship comes with an award of $1,365.  Once again, congratulations!

The one that maybe more of interest to the SoE dissertation phase graduate students is: Grant-in-Aid of Doctoral Research Student deadline: All materials must be submitted online through Compass by Friday, September 23, 2011 (Fall competition) and Friday, January 27, 2012 (Spring competition) Department deadline: All materials must be turned into the University Graduate School by Friday, October 7, 2011 (Fall competition) and Friday, February 10, 2012 (Spring competition)     Please look at the C&I News page for more of the University Graduate School Internal Awards/Fellowships.
Proposal Submission - 2012 Curriculum and Instruction Research and Creative Activity Symposium
Dear C & I Faculty and Graduate Students: We are most pleased to announce the 2012 Curriculum and Instruction Research and Creative Activity Symposium, scheduled for February 17, 2012. Proposal submission form is due by November 18, 2011. This year we hope to complete the review of proposals by the end of the semester so that we can notify those who will be presenting as soon as possible.
