Young-Ok Kim
My name is Young-Ok Kim. I came from South Korea in 2001 and am now a fourth year doctoral student in mathematics education. In Korea, I worked as a teaching assistant in the Mathematics Education Department for two years and worked on some funded projects to develop new mathematics courses for secondary mathematics. Presently, I am working on the NAEP project to develop materials for teacher professional development.
My educational goal is to gain a Ph.D. with specialization related to teacher education in K-12 mathematics education and a minor in Instructional Systems Technology. My career goal is to be a teacher educator and educational counselor who works on developing teaching materials based on cultural and real educational situations in developing countries and preparing teachers of those countries to use these new materials. A particular goal is to work for a specialized global agency like UNESCO.
